Adapt Framework v4.4.0 released!
by Matt Leathes - Wednesday, 30 October 2019, 12:35 PM

In celebration of 50 years of computer-to-computer communication* we have today released Adapt FW v4.4.0, which will likely be the last 'feature release' for v4 as we hope to be releasing Adapt v5 in the next couple of weeks.

A key feature of this release is that it contains a fix for the 'Template was precompiled with a newer version of Handlebars than the current runtime' error caused by an update to the handlebars NPM module.

The main two new features are a new API for Notify and a vastly improved Accessibility API.

There should be an update to FW v2 over the next few weeks, which may well be the last one for that version of Adapt. Currently the plan is to abandon all support for that version in January 2020, to celebrate Microsoft dropping support for Windows 7.

* not really, it's just coincidence

There's a good overview under 'Features' here https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_framework/issues/2364

And is there a confirmed release date?

No, we never confirm release dates. As pretty much all time on the project is donated it's always a case of 'it happens when it happens'!

Thanks Matt.

I totally appreciate its a flexible beast with project time being donated,
but do you envisage it being this side of Christmas?

Yes! In fact we've just started merging the v5 pull requests for the core plugins. Next stage will be to get all of them released and then we are safe to merge and release the Framework itself. I will say we really would like to have this done by the end of next week (if not sooner) but it's totally dependent on those of us with access to do this having enough spare time!
