How to replicate version 1 demo course
by Harry Kalantzis - Wednesday, 13 January 2016, 3:05 PM

Hi there,

I was impressed when I saw this demo of Adapt. And since I was asked to demonstrate what Adapt can do (in order to persuade my university to adopt the tool), I was wondering if I can replicate the demo by using the authoring tool and my own content. Because a course I have created at the moment looks nothing like the demo.

Any kind of help hugely appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Harry,

Unfortunately, the short answer to this is no.

That demo was created in the very early Adapt days, and is made up of quite a lot of custom code. As the tool tracks (as closely as it can) the latest version of the Framework, I doubt that any of the plugins in that course will be usable without considerable work.

This being said, Kineo have developed two extensions which you might find of use: article block slider which has a properties.schema, suggesting it's authoring tool compatible (haven't tried this myself), and background switcher, which looks to be v2 compatible, but not authoring tool compatible - this will need a schema setting up.

Besides this, you'll also need to customise the vanilla theme from scratch, although I imagine you can make some quick-win changes like custom block classes to achieve a similar 'look and feel'.
