Uncaught Error: youtube component not found
by k jcsb - Wednesday, 24 August 2016, 9:04 AM

When I insert a component of type "YouTube Player" and then preview the course I get the following in the browser console:

adapt.min.js:153 Uncaught Error: youtube component not found. Is it installed and included?

model @ adapt.min.js:153
_prepareModel @ adapt.min.js:141
set @ adapt.min.js:141
add @ adapt.min.js:141
reset @ adapt.min.js:141
e.success @ adapt.min.js:141
i @ jquery.v2.js:2
fireWith @ jquery.v2.js:2
z @ jquery.v2.js:4
(anonymous function) @ jquery.v2.js:4

What have I done wrong?

Hi there,

Couple of questions:

  • Are you the authoring tool, or the framework?
  • Not sure what the YouTube Player component is, where did you get it?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using the Authoring Tool.

The last component in the component list is "YouTube Player". We just followed the instructions for the Vagrant install so I'm not sure where it came from.

Did you get this resolved?

The standard, core component used to play videos is the Media component (adapt-contrib-media). It is bundled with the Authoring Tool. Did you give it a try?

Thanks. I've tried that and get the following message in the browser console when attempting to preview the page:

Specified "type" attribute of "video/youtube" is not supported. Load of media resource https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1234 failed.

What is the correct type to use?
