Playing back video from a media server with adapt-contrib-media
by Ryan Lowry - Tuesday, 18 October 2016, 12:52 PM

Hi,

Can anyone tell if it's possible to playback video from a media server using the adapt-contrib-media component?

Our organization uses Wowza media server to deliver streaming video. On our website we use JWplayer and support RTMP, DASH and HLS. Is it possible to include these streams as sources in adapt-contrib-media?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan

The underlying player in the contrib-media component is MediaElement.js, so the immediate question is whether that has support or not...

It does have a demo file for HLS so it seems like it does but I've never tried it myself.

Ryan

Have you made any progress with finding answers to how to link to streaming video from within the adapt authoring tool. I have the same question you do on this with a similar issue where I would like to link my Amazon Cloudfront videos using RTMP into my course for a better experience and currently there doesn't seem to be a way to do that or not one that I know of.
