exporting to word, updating then re-importing to same course
by Kenneth Hardy - Thursday, 20 April 2017, 2:42 PM

Dear Forum,

I am new to Adapt and have to update an existing course.

Rather than edit in situ block by by block, I wonder if there is a process by which i can I export it to word, update it, then re-import it to the same course and save it?

Many thanks in advance for any solution,

Best wishes

Would you be open to modifying that content in a non-Word format?

If you created your course using the framework directly, rather than the authoring tool, I found there is some potential in using the localisation feature: https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_framework/wiki/Course-Localisation. Since this feature can be used when translating a course in English to, say German, it seems feasible that it could be used to update your English content outside of the code/JSON-based files.

I tried a casual, small test where I exported a test course's content (this results in CSV files that parallel the JSON files), updated a few areas of the exported files (I made somple edits using Notepad), then imported them to see the text updates take effect.

Check out that wiki page, and try it out and see if it feels like it could work. It did for me, but in a very simplified test case.
