Install both Authoring Tool and Framework

I'm knew to Adapt and would like to try both the Authoring tool and the Framework. After doing a search, it seems that the work streams for the tool and framework are separate, with the tool lagging behind.

Question, is it possible to download and use both the Authoring tool and Framework if you select compatible versions?

I'm using Windows 10.

The Authoring Tool encapsulates the Framework i.e. it will always include its own copy of the Framework.

You can also run the Framework entirely separately on the same computer. It doesn't matter which version of the framework you have there (by default you'll get the latest) as it's totally standalone. You can have multiple copies all running different versions if you so need.

The only components they all share are:

  • Git
  • nodejs
  • Adapt CLI

And the only one of those you need to be careful about is nodejs. The Authoring Tool installation instructions state that it requires v4.2.2 so make sure you get that version.
