Please Help! Urgent!!
by John Papworth - Wednesday, 19 July 2017, 8:11 AM

Hello

Environment - Adapt Authoring Tool running on a Windows 10 Laptop.

I have had an issue with my course I created.

Initially I had the background scroller in the course, and this caused an issue when we went from course page to course page, in the sense it displayed everything but the actual content.  I discovered that using the "Parallax Background Scroller".

The issue is I turned off the original one - putting it to false in the places it appeared and made the Parallax one as True and all set to Parallax.

The issue I have is when I try to preview the course, I get nothing appearing on screen.  This is now really urgent as it should have been delivered and these things are causing issues.   Preview worked previously.

Is there a known bug?  Is there a debugging tool that I can see where issues may be?

Please Help!

Regards

John

Yes - press F12 when the course is running to see if there are any error messages in the console.

What are 'background scroller' and 'parallax background scroller'?

If you are not using one of them why not remove it completely from the plugin manager? Equally remove both to see if that makes the course work again.

Matt

Thanks for the response.  So is this when I run the preview?

The scrollers are the plugins that give you a nice image in the background that your text appears over or any other media.

https://github.com/cgkineo/adapt-background-switcher

https://github.com/mike-st/parallax-background-switcher

Are you familiar with them?

I don't want the first, which I will delete that out of my course.  The trouble is removing the plug-in will then delete the whole settings, which the issue is you have to go into every single slide to then put the background back in!

Thanks

John

If you don't want to use it surely that's not a problem?

Hi John,

The problem is you can't have the Background-switcher extension and parallax Scroller extension enabled together in the same course. That said you don't need them both enable any how, as the Parallax Scroller has the Animation effect built into it along with the parallax effect too. So there is no need to have both as the one extension does both styles of animation. You will have to remove the Background switcher as it will conflict since the parallax extension is based off of the code of the Background switcher. Remove it in manage extensions area and then click on the theme to rebuild and republish the course. That will fix any conflicts in your course. You can't have the parallax effect and animation effect on the same page in a course, but you can switch them through out the pages of the course if you want when using the Parallax Extension.

Thank you all.

It seems some of the woes were coming from the iOS whatsitmaflip!
