JAWS - Screen reader review results

Dear Members,

The courses which have been developed using Adapt Framework are not being read in desired manner. The details of observations for JAWS 15+ FF28 are below:

1.  JAWS is not able to read the feedback text box content which appears on Submit of the MCQ.

2. JAWS is not able to read the Video Play/Pause buttons.

Observations for JAWS 15+ IE9 are below:

1.  JAWS is not able to read the feedback text box content which appears on Submit of the MCQ.

2. JAWS is not able to read the Video Play/Pause buttons.

Observations for JAWS 15+ GC are below:
1. JAWS is not working on this browser.

The above results can be summarized as:
1. In IE9 and FF28 the feedback pop-us are not being read
2. In GC the content is not being read at all.

Is there some kind of solution available for issues related to screen readers?

Personally, I'm not sure about solutions but thank you for raising the issues. From an accessibility point of view, it's good to be aware of these bugs.

Question wise, for an interim solution, you could use a different component (like a text component) and invite the learner to think about the question, then scroll down for the answer. Not trackable like an assessment is though, or as interactive as the question components.

Just a thought - can the question feedback pop up be disabled but still allow the component to track? This might resolve the issue with JAWS, and it would still be in line with some assessment design approaches.

Hello there Manu,

As Nicola said, thanks very much for the feedback on accessibility.

We have some good news, the core bundle is currently undergoing revision to make it WAI AA compliant. This is the big ticket item on the next release of the framework (see the framework roadmap). We're hoping to have  V 1.2 release into testing by the end of the month.

Thanks,

Paul
