Time Frames - Authoring tool
by Paul Tebbatt - Friday, 1 August 2014, 11:10 AM

Hi

Hope you are all well.

I have been using the framework over the last few months and have been producing some lessons.

The output is great so good work!

I was just wondering if there were any specific time frames for the release of the authoring tool?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

I am not with the adapt team, but i attended the webinar that took place last week, and of course that question was asked, so the date i was told about is October.

Have a great day,

Inbal

Thanks Inbal, I was wondering this too.

Hi Paul, + 1 for me also. In the meantime for modifying existing courses for the JSON I use http://jsoneditor.net/ - A very quick online editor which stops me from accidentally slipping a comma!

Thanks for mentioning it. Bring on October!

Hello Paul, Inbal and Wes,

thanks for your post and sorry for the delayed response. Great to see that there is interest in the tool.

Our official line on when we release the authoring tool is 'before the end of 2014' as per our roadmap page. We're not really in a position to set a specific date and would rather avoid any disappointment, hence we're keeping it quite vague.

It's also important to say that our first release will be a functional prototype (i.e. a version 0.1 rather than a fully built out version 1.0). The requirements we are aiming to meet can be seen here. This functional prototype will be usable and stable and best suited to early adopters. There may still be a few technical skills required on occasion...

Hope this explains things.

Thanks and have a great week,

Sven

Hi,

in case you haven't seen this yet - there is a recording of the Authoring Tool demo at:

This shows you our work in progress on the tool and also the UI designs as they stand right now.

We're confident about a first delivery (functional version 0.1 as defined here) of the tool before the end of 2014.

Thanks,
Sven
