How to link directly between articles
by Todd Routson - Tuesday, 2 September 2014, 5:00 PM

Does anyone know if there's an easy way (or any way at all for that matter) to link from one article page to another?

Here's what I'm trying to do:

When the user gets to the bottom/end of a page(article) within the course, instead of using the arrow icon at the top left to return to the main screen, there would be a link at the bottom of the page allowing users to go to the next and/or previous article in the course. They could still use the top bar arrow, but this would just be an easier way to get to the next page of the course.

We've had some users who were confused as to what to do next once they had gotten to the end of a page so I thought this might be worth exploring. Is there a way to do this? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Todd

Hi Todd,

We've created an extension for projects which provides the functionality you need. It's essentially a back and next button which can be positioned within a block within a page (we've typically placed it at the foot of a page). In addition to back and next, we've also added a menu button but this can be configured as to whether it displays or not.

This extension is one of the ones we'll be bringing to the Adapt hack with a view to making available to the community in the near future as it currently doesn't comply with the Open Source coding standards.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

We'd like to use this on our single page adapt courses, so that we can separate the assessment from the content in the course, using 2 articles and linking to article #2 from article #1. Has the testing progressed, and/or is this now available on github?
