Reset multiple choice question when answered correct
by Sherri Fricker - Tuesday, 1 February 2022, 9:43 PM

Hello,

I see that there is an option to allow users to reset a question once they have already answered it correctly? I see a setting in the article > Assessment setting (Allow retry once passed), but it doesn't seem to work. Are there other settings at the block and component level that must also be enabled in order to make this work? I have the number of attempts at -1 and when I answer the question correctly, the reset button does not appear for me.

Currently, we’re on:
  • Authoring tool version 0.10.5
  • Framework version 5.18.1

Any help the community can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sherri

Are you using assessmentResults with it? It works in mine when each of the feedback bands in assessmentResults has Allow Retry set to true (in addition to your assessment settings described).

There are two types of reset with two different lifecycles: question and assessment.

The question reset button appears if you have multiple attempts at a question and you answer it incorrectly. Once your available attempts are exhausted or you answer the question correctly, the reset button disappears and the question is considered complete.

Assessment reset is controlled by the assessmentResults component retry button (as Barry has described). When the assessmentResults retry button is clicked it'll reset the completion of all of the questions in the assessment, allowing you to attempt the whole assessment again.
