Stuck in a Frameset
by Christian Flanagan - Wednesday, 10 September 2014, 10:23 PM

We're running a test and built a small course in Adapt. The client LMS is launching the course in a child window, but in the child window the course runs in a frameset. I don't know why.

How would I tweak Adapt to make SCORM calls to a frameset parent?

You shouldn't have to. Adapt uses the pipwerks SCORM wrapper to interface with SCORM and it's this that actually handles finding the API. It should search the frames of the current window and, if nothing found, jump to the window that opened it and search that instead.

Been using it for quite a few years now in Adapt and others and never seen it fail yet - except when something was wrong on the LMS side.

Unfortunately a LOT of LMSes are still embedding the e-learning content within a frameset... despite this HTML element having be deprecated some time ago. Knackers the responsiveness and can cause IE to freak out completely and fall back into 'quirks mode'... :-(
