I seem to remember there was an effort to build an alternative front end that used adapt json files.

IIRC the effort had not got very far, but now I can't find the link, and it's tricky to search for - most relevant search terms producing many false positives.

Maybe the project was shut down and the repo was taken offline. If anyone knows anything about that project, please share a link or any other details.
