Authoring Tool Issue with Youtube Embed code
by Michael Arias - Monday, 20 April 2015, 2:53 PM

Hello,

I added a blank component to a block, in the body I click the source button and added embed code from a youtube video. It displays fine in authroing mode but when I "Preview" my course the video does not show up.

Am I following the proper steps to ad an embedded video that is hosted not within the course?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

I wouldn't add it like that, the embed code is probably getting escaped somewhere.  You can use the Responsive IFrame component for this.

You can download the zip from here then import it into your authoring tool:

Brian

Thank you for your reply, Brian.

I downloaded the zip, uploaded it as a component which worked fine.

I filled out the properties and entered the embed URL. When I preview the course the page just shows up blank. Am I missing anything here?

I have tried the ResponsiveIFrame component but I can't get it to work. What is the proper way of using it? My preview gets stuck on loading.

The core media component allows you to specify YouTube videos as the source - is there any reason you haven't used that instead?

See the README for more info.

I use the authoring tool and haven't gotten it work until today after upgradeing both the framework and the authoring tool. But I do get the vimeo problem described in this post https://community.adaptlearning.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=556&parent=2575

There is a bar in the bottom of the video window partly over vimeos controls.

Also I would like to embed other items with the ResponsiveIframe-component.
