I tried to add a PDF to my Resources area but when I click on upload it takes me to the Assets section which is showing as empty, and I'm unable to upload a PDF into it.
Any help?

I'm not sure what you're referring to here - are we talking uploading assets in the authoring tool?
No sorry - I mean the Resources extension - Go into Project Settings, Resources and try to add items from there.
