Fresh Adapt Author install issues
by Greg Pell - Friday, 17 July 2015, 2:21 AM

Hi All,

I have just attempted a fresh install of the adapt authoring tool and framework as I was having all sorts of issues try to upgrade.

This is all running on Ubuntu 14.04 which I have had it all running fine on previously.

Anyway I ran the "npm install" command and after confirming all of the config options I got the follow error:

I then continue to get that error if I try to run "node server".

Any ideas?

Thanks

Greg

I finally got this to work. It looked like I didn't have node installed properly. I went through the process again of installing it using nvm and it seemed to work ok one i went through the adapt install process again.

Strange...

Hi Greg,

It actually looks like you had some other service running on port 5000.

Hi Greg,

That error showing on the screenshot is because port 5000 was already in use when the server attempted to start. The most likely case is that you already had an authoring tool instance running when you ran the install script. A less likely case is that some other application was running and using port 5000.

Thanks,

Dennis

Thanks guys... strange though as I had rebooted the server before I re-installed and was certain that node wasn't running.

Anyway, good to know for the future.
