Authoring Tool Interface Translation
by Mauro Sánchez - Monday, 27 July 2015, 3:00 PM

Hello, I'd like to start translating the Authoring Tool Interface to Spanish.

What's the easiest way to do it? Is the system prepared to select the language of the Interface once it's translated?

Thanks for the help.

Cheers.

Mauro.

Hola Mauro,

That would be great.  Everything is in English right now but it's been built in such a way that it can be easily extended.  The language pack for English is located here:

https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_authoring/blob/develop/routes/lang/en-application.json

In theory all we need is an es-application.json version for this in Spanish and to change the code in a few places.  Probably here and in the Gruntfile:

https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_authoring/blob/develop/frontend/src/core/app/app.js#L71

If you want to raise a ticket on Github we could move the technical discussion to there?

Thanks,

Brian

Hello Brian.

Thanks for the reply. I opened an issue there:

https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_authoring/issues/768There, I mentioned a doubt about special chars.

"I've a doubt about the special chars like á or ñ. Should I use the html special chars codes in the translation of en-application.json? For exmple: configuration should be translated like configuración?"

Thanks.

Mauro.

Hi Mauro,

I've replied to the issue on GitHub but in case you don't see it you can enter the characters as they are, i.e. á, ñ, etc.  As long as the characters are in the UTF-8 character set it should be fine.

Regards,

Brian
