Installed Adapt using Wiki tutorial
by Alan Bourne - Thursday, 12 December 2013, 10:25 PM

Hi all,

This evening I checked out the Wiki on installing the core code adapt code, and everything went fairly smoothly. I'm not massively familiar with using the npm and terminal on mac, however, the files installed, and I was able to build my first package successfully!

A fairly straightforward setup process :)

Whilst performing the setup (and discussing with Chris Jones) I have updated the wiki as it needed to include 1 extra step.

One thing that I feel needs more clarity / direction is making it easier to find the wiki. I was only made aware of its existence by Chris, and spent about 45 minutes trying to find it (before almost giving up). I'm not sure how important this is at this stage as I know it's still very much in development but maybe something to keep in mind for future.

Great progress though, looks like everyone has been making some big progress over the last few weeks.

I'm hoping to take a look at creating a course and the plugin system next, looking forward to it.

Regards

Alan

Hey Alan,

I agree with how hard it is to find. Me and Chris were talking about this roughly a week ago. What I'd quite like to do is keep it tucked away until we're ready in January.

This is due to documentation being in a state of progress and developers will try to get it working. I'd really like the links to all the developer documentation in the README.md file which becomes the text below the git repo files.

In January, before the release it would be good to revise all the documentation and make sure it's all up to date. (I believe some of it is already due to some changes in the way we work).

Thanks for getting involved and having a go - it's brilliant you've added more to the documentation. Would also be great if you could test run the Adapt-cli install command Chris has just updated.

Thanks,

Daryl

Hi Daryl,

Could something small go into the "References / Resources" part of this community forum to mention the tutorial Wiki's (in January). On this page maybe https://community.adaptlearning.org/course/view.php?id=2

With regards to the Adapt-cli install command, this works great. To test this i deleted my downloaded "components" from my github project folder, ran "adapt install" and hey presto, all the files came back :) magic!!

I'll continue to take a look at the other components and the MVP document.

Regards

Alan
