Bookmarking and component completion in Saba LMS
by Bill Randall - Wednesday, 1 September 2021, 12:52 PM

Hi folks,

I've had a report of intermittent issues where my Adapt course is sometimes not bookmarking properly (instead jumps back to top of page), and sometimes previously completed interactive components are later shown as incomplete when a course is exited and re-visited.

My course is built in Adapt framework v4, the browser is latest version of Edge, and the LMS is Saba.

I'm not able to replicate the issues in either Totara or Scorm Cloud, so wondered if you're aware of any useful settings in Saba that could help with this?  Player settings etc.?

Any ideas much appreciated!  Thanks.

Bill

Read https://community.adaptlearning.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=3794#p13724

and this https://rusticisoftware.com/blog/scorm-engine-in-saba/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=natural_search

You'll need to work out which version of saba you have, whether it still has the xhr bug.

Otherwise what percentage of users are affected and what are their internet connections like?

Thanks, Oliver.  This does sound like the reported behaviour, but it's happening on Edge browser.  Does the xhr bug only relate to Chrome, or can it affect Edge as well?  Thanks!

I just read this, so I think Edge is also affected, unless I've misundertood?

'Disallow synchronous XmlHttpRequest in page dismissal' is happening in the Chromium project, on which Microsoft Edge is based.

Thanks for the pointers here, Oliver. Saba confirmed it was the xhr bug causing the issue and suggested a workaround using a global flag in Edge browser.

Stupendous.

I think I previously negated to mention our wiki entry on the subject: https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_framework/wiki/SCORM,-closing-windows,-LMSFinish-and-synchronous-XHR-dismissals
