I’m sorry I can’t help with window installation, if you really need to get cracking you might want to try a trial  one of the authoring tool developers.

We have one https://canstudios.com/adapt . You can sign up to right away for a free trial and export later if you want to move provider. Or you can check the other collaborators Listed on this site.

Hope this helps,

Paul.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to finish the installation of the authoring tool via heroku? I tried the developer manual install first and couldn't manage it due to this error:

npm 5.5.1 Cannot find module 'internal/util/types'

So I tried via heroku, but the wiki isn't finished so I don't know how to continue.

Hi,

(There was a similar posting about this a few years ago, but the previous solution doesn't help me.)

I've downloaded the adapt framework and am editing it according to: https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_framework/wiki/Creating-your-first-course

I think the sample course has been updated more recently than the wiki page, but I assumed it would work much the same. Editing course.json poses no problem. I have followed the rest exactly, and tried again with my own numbers, but I am still getting this error:

Running "check-json" task
Empty _ids: b-110
Fatal error: Oops, looks like you have some json errors.

For reference my linking of id -> parentids is:

course -> co20 -> a25 -> b110 -> c155

But I have also tried with the numbers suggested in the guide. I also added a new tracking id (20) to the additional block (but have tried without it as well). Everything has a parentid (except course) that matches the id of the previous addition.

The problem is only ever with block, so I assume it's not registering my new component, but I don't know why.

I feel like I have tried every combination of changes and no-changes there is, so if anyone could help I'd be very grateful.

I have also attached the files if you want to double check.

Hi Emilia,

If your current management system supports scorm you should be fine with Adapt courses. Which ever tool you use you can download the course and upload in to turn LMS so you are not tied into that tool forever.

There are a number of ways to get the tool, companies such ourselves Can Studios, Learning Pool and others mentioned on the collaborators page have tools you can subscribe to with free trials etc, or you can run it yourself if technically capable.

The courses are kept in the tool you us, and you can export source or build courses. As such no one else should have access to the sources of your courses unless you want them too.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

We have just completed our monthly updates to our hosted adapt servers.

All users now have access to the Quick Navigation component and a new List Menu which we have developed.

As well as updating to the latest version of the framework we have also added support for content locking in sub-menus and the ability to remove plugins for our premium clients.

As ever, you can sign up for instant access to a free trial of our hosted service.

Thanks for reading :)

Hi Ted,

I played I bit this weekend and I found some kind of work-around to the problem of making a course done with AT available to other AT instances, doesn't work in all scenarios. Let me tell you about that...

1. The Standalone Launcher uses an AT instance that is portable, it's a self-contained package: application + DATA.

2. As you said is true that you cannot import a course (yet), but if you work with the Standalone Launcher you build the course in the "portable space" (C:\adapt\...mongodb data somewhere...)

3. You cannot move the course, but you can move the all AT instance: let's say from PC1 to PC2. This is a valid case if you work without collaborators, and you just need to move your work from a laptop to a desk PC or similar.

Really waiting for the export/import feature! :)

Hi Pippo,

Can Studios have been doing this kind of work for a number of companies. We are based in Sheffield - but we have worked for companies all over the world.

Please dm me your number if you would like a chat.

Thanks,

Paul

Hello, I want to introduce myself to the community as an experienced developer in AdaptLearning.

As part of my personal presentation and offering of my service I would like to show you one of my most ambitious projects for AdaptLearning. I have created an extension that totally changes the model of visualization and interaction of Adapt, is called Blocksequential-Advance.

This new plugin has the following characteristics:

  1. It changes the native navigation of Adapt by a navigation by blocks, where each block is loaded independently.
  2. It integrates an audio player that allows to assign an initial audio to each component and also detects the interaction with components created by the community like:
    1. adapt-contrib-narrative
    2. adapt-contrib-accordion
    3. adapt-contrib-hotgraphic
    4. adapt-hotgrid
    5. adapt-contrib-clickAndLearn
    6. adapt-tabs
    7. adapt-expose
    8. adapt-contrib-flipcard
    9. adapt-contrib-flipper
  3. Bookmark for LMS.
  4. Side navigation menu.
  5. Feed indicators.
  6. Logo, background image and title editing to the top navigation bar.
  7. Audio subtitles.
  8. Option to hide blocks in the side menu
  9. 100% responsive (obviously).

In the following video you will be able to see a demo with the integrated extension, you will like them. If you are interested in the plugin you can contact me at jorge@train-in.cr

  2. Integra una reproductor de audios que permite asignar un audio inicial a cada componente y ademas detecta la interacción con componentes creados por la comunidad como:

    2. adapt-contrib-accordion
    3. adapt-contrib-hotgraphic
    4. adapt-hotgrid
    5. adapt-contrib-clickAndLearn
    6. adapt-tabs
    7. adapt-expose
    8. adapt-contrib-flipcard
    9. adapt-contrib-flipper
  3. Bookmark para LMS.
  4. Menu de navegación lateral.
  5. Indicadores de avance.

Having the folks from Can Studios on board has been a big boost to the project - but as always we could always use more help so if that's something you're able to provide please do let us know.

Doesn't necessarily need to be technical help, there are plenty of other areas where we could use some support too.

Hi Mick

There is definitely activity on the framework and authoring tool, including import and export. We (Can Studios) are committed to adapt and spend a lot of our time in and around the AT. There are a couple of house keeping issues getting fixed at the moment but I'm pretty sure once those are out of the way development will be easier and therefore you will start to see more regular updates.
