Thanks Daryl for the heads up. We will look into the new version of this component and get back to you if we need to add more features apart from which are already present.

There are few issues though on iOS and Andriod of video not loading that we will add once we finish checking with the updated component.

Regards,

Aniket

One thing to note - Safari on iOS does not allow you to play audio without the user having first instigated it via a touch or click event.

I think the user only has to do this once and thereafter you can play audio without user intervention - would need to check this, though.

Also need to check whether same restrictions apply to video - I suspect they do.

Which version of IE were you using? If IE8 then it may have been that a Flash-based 'fallback' video player was being displayed instead...

Also, some (HTML-video-capable) browsers will preload some of the video and display the first frame when no poster image is specified - though I'd recommend disabling that preloading as I've found that if you have a lot of video on one page this can cause a problem where some of the video just won't load - so I'd recommend explicitly disabling preloading and always creating a poster image.

On a related note, Safari on iOS 7 seems to have an issue where it just abritrarily stops displaying poster images: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18613470/why-does-safari-on-ios-not-show-my-html5-video-poster
Unlike the person who reported this, I'm not having to restart Safari to make it work again, just re-launch the course.

As Thomas pointed out, the ability to use basic triggers with video would be a useful feature, not least for the purpose of creating engaging and memorable branching scenarios where learners get to make decisions and explore the consequences of their choices etc.

For anyone looking to use the Adapt framework for language learning, flip/flashcards  would be an invaluable interaction type. Example: http://quizlet.com/14020293/flashcards

Finally, Drag and drop sequencing interactions with text and/or graphic elements (like those found in Storyline, Captivate etc) would potentially make for a more engaging way for learners to explore and test their understanding of procedural/process-oriented knowledge.

Best,

Bjorn

In terms of the place holder for the final feedback tick/cross, it looks like it is only used when there is more than one attempt allowed, but less than an infinite # of attempts. Could I suggest that if there is an infinite # of attempts set or only one attempt, the Attempts 'block' is just not used and the feedback 'block' takes up the entire width?

In those scenarios I honestly don't see much value in duplicating the tick/cross since it already exists on the answer that was selected.

Hi Lisette,

thank you for the suggestion. It's very well explained!

I could see this type of functionality also being useful for delivering initial diagnostic and branching scenarios.

I have created an 'issue' on Github at: https://github.com/adaptlearning/adapt_authoring/issues/287

This way, it can be freely discussed and we won't loose track of it.

All the best and thank you also for your great feedback and encouragement.

Sven

Hi William

Are you running iOS 7 by any chance? If so, something seems to have changed in this version that's causing this issue to occur quite a bit on all sorts of different HTML content - not just Adapt. We've even managed to replicate it on a page with just the text 'Hello World'!

It seems to be something server based (in that you can move the content to another server and it stops happening) so is being investigated by our support team.

Hello,

First of all I would like to compliment you all on this great initiative. I’ve listened to the recordings of the webinar and Adapt looks impressive. I like the way you’ve designed navigation and the way you’ve arranged flexibility in switching between devices ( from a learning point of view).

I’m looking for an e-learning authoring tool  for designing solutions for K-12 education and teacher training. In my dreams I see really beautiful scenarios about combining mobile learning, ‘desktop-learning’ (how do you call ‘non-mobile’ e-learning....) and face to face instruction. Reading about Adapt,  it looked heaven send. But if it looks to good to be true, it often is to good to be true J. I hope I’m not overlooking something here.......

Perhaps it helps to know some  more about the CED-Groep. We are based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Our website (http://www.cedgroep.nl/applications/english.aspx) only has a few words in English but perhaps you can visit it to get a feel about us. When I talk about my work with friends ( at anniversaries etc), I always say that we help teachers to do their work.  We do that in two different ways. One way is that a school hires one of our consultants. The consultant helps the principal and the team to solve their problem. When a lot of schools experience the same problems we do our other type of support; research and development. Together with a group of teachers we try to design and implement a solution, not just for one school but for all the schools in the Netherlands. To do so we have to look for funding; sometimes by the government, sometimes by private funds. We used to be a municipal organization, but the way of funding organizations like ours changed a lot in the last five years or so.

There are about 10 organisations like the CED-Groep in the Netherlands. We are the biggest. I think being the biggest is not something to congratulate yourself on, but it kind of gives you an idea about the scope of our organization .

Our field of expertise is primary, secondary education and special needs. We like to use e-learning more often (when appropriated of course). Joining this initiative looks promising. My colleagues and I aren’t technically skilled but we are passionate about learning.  So perhaps Adapt can be part of my dream scenario and perhaps we can be of use for you.

 Kind regards

Lisette Ligtendag

Hi, Brian from Kineo US checking in here.

Here' some interesting data from a recent Adapt release for one of our US clients. This was a global initiative, and the course was released to over 10 countries/languages. The numbers are still relatively low as the course was just introduced, but I think they're still quite indicative. Note IE statistics.Unfortunately I don'f have the version breakdown.
